dfcu Bank, in partnership with Monitor Publications Limited, has launched the seventh season of the dfcu Rising Woman Initiative. This national campaign aims to empower women entrepreneurs with knowledge, networks, and resources.
The initiative, launched at Mestil Hotel in Kampala, builds on its legacy of uplifting over 60,000 women in person and reaching over one million virtually since 2018. Dr. Victoria Sekitoleko, former Minister of Agriculture, emphasized the transformative power of opportunity, encouraging women entrepreneurs to “invest in yourself and your fellow businesswomen.”
Key highlights of the 2025 edition include: five Regional Trainings, a Business Proposal Competition featuring UGX 30 million in prize money, the Rising Woman Expo, an Awards Gala, and an All-Expenses-Paid Mentorship Trip.
Dr. Gudula Naiga Basaza, Chairperson of the dfcu Women Business Advisory Council, highlighted dfcu’s commitment to women, stating, “Women are the backbone of Uganda… dfcu Rising Woman exists to amplify their stories.”
Participation is free for women-led businesses meeting specific criteria. This initiative underscores dfcu Bank’s dedication to promoting women’s economic empowerment in Uganda.
