Uganda Tourism Board Welcomes New CEO, Ms. Juliana Kagwa
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has officially welcomed Ms. Juliana Kagwa as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a new chapter for the country's tourism sector. The handover ceremony, held on June 16th, 2025, was presided over by UTB Board Chairperson, Ms. Pearl Kakooza in the presence of the vice chairperson, Mr. Ron Kawamara; board members Mr. Rashid Kiyimba and Dr. Ojara Margaret; and Deputy CEO Mr. Bradford Ochieng.
Ms. Kagwa brings over two decades of experience in marketing, sales, and brand leadership across Africa, with a notable career in fast-moving consumer goods and agribusiness. Her expertise spans senior positions at Seed Co International and Uganda Breweries Limited, where she drove award-winning marketing campaigns and promoted Ugandan brands globally.
Welcoming Ms. Kagwa, Ms. Kakooza expressed optimism about UTB's future under her leadership. "Ms. Kagwa's extensive experience in brand management and commitment to sustainable development make her an ideal leader for UTB," she said. Ms. Kagwa conveyed humility and enthusiasm, stating, "I look forward to building on the great work done thus far and amplifying Uganda's story to the world."
Ms. Kagwa's leadership extends beyond business strategy to impactful social initiatives. She led partnerships like the ROOTS reforestation initiative and launched the "Vaccination for the Nation" campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping over 500,000 people.
With Ms. Kagwa at the helm, UTB is poised to promote Uganda as a premier tourist destination, driving economic growth and transforming lives.
