FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel upholds decision by Executive on Big League 2019/2020 season, following Ndejje University from the Rwenzori Group and Saviors FC from Elgon Group petition to FUFA for premature finishing of FUFA Big League due to worldwide Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

MYDA FC and UPDF confirmed promoted by FUFA on sporting merit after the Big League was ended due to Covid19 pandemic.

FUFA used Article 18 (c) where “at least one club has played more than 75% of the league games” to determine the table positions. This made Ndejje (U) FC and Saviors FC not contented petitioning FUFA for using the rule wrongly. In their petition saying that NO club had played more than 75% the time when the FUFA Big League was ended due to covid-19 pandemic.

This however, prompted FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Committee to consider Article 18 (b) where “all the Clubs in the league have completed the first round fixture but less than 75% league games have been played” the first round of the league has to be considered and the table standings acquired.

Remember; Article 85: “The Executive Committee shall have the powers to decide on all cases of force majeure and on all matters not provided for in these statutes, such decisions to be made according to right and justice, taking into account the relevant regulations.”

So Kitara FC will play Kataka FC and Ndejje University will face off with Kiboga Young in the promotion playoffs to decide that third team that joins the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League.

Consequently, Katwe United, Light SS, Saviours FC, Kansai Plascon, New Villa and Dove FC were all relegated and 2020/21 season have to fight hard for a return to Big League from Region League ( 3^RD Division)
