Reigning King of Tooro- Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, is today celebrating 28 years on the throne! The Omukama of Tooro commonly known as King Oyo was born on April 16, 1992, to King Patrick David Mathew Kaboyo Olimi III and Queen Best Kemigisa Kaboyo.
His Majesty ascended the throne in 1995, succeeding his father as the Omukama (King) of Tooro, after his father’s death on September 12th, 1995.
Omukama atoma empango after a long line of Abanyamirwa that brought the different regalia including Emapango – Drum, Amahango – Spire, Enseyo among others.
The crown prince had to assume office at three and a half years – still a toddler in 1995 at 4:00am. Three regents were appointed to execute the task of growing the now King Oyo to the role of a King. These included; His mother – Best Kemigisha, His aunt -Princess Elizabeth Bagaya and President Museveni.
“His Majesty is an inspiration to the youth and his subjects on issues of unity, fighting against HIV/AIDS, environmental conservation among others. I thank God who has protected him, the Queen Mother and H.E Yoweri Museveni, who have been strong pillars for His Majesty”, – Thomas Tayebwa Deputy Speaker -Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, Member of Parliament – Ruhinda North County, Mitooma.
